New England Fall FoliageOctober 5 – 10, 2008
Sunday, October 5 (Dinner)This morning we depart on our fabulous fall tour to beautiful New England. We arrive in Manchester, NH this afternoon and board our deluxe motor coach for a ride northward to Conway, New Hampshire where we will check into the Grand Hotel for two nights. On our way to the hotel we will enjoy dinner at Stafford Farms. Monday, October 6 (Breakfast, Dinner)After breakfast this morning we will set out for a full day of touring. A local guide will take us along the famous Kancamagus Highway, the only Federally designated “scenic byway” in New England. We will make several photo stops along the way. Next, we’ll take a ride on the Cannon Mountain Tramway to the mountain’s summit. Once at the top, we will have beautiful views of the surrounding mountainsides, brilliant with fall colors. On a clear day, mountain peaks in New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Canada are visible. We will have time to explore and have lunch at the Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch State Park. Dinner this evening will be at the hotel. Tuesday, October 7 (Breakfast, Dinner)Breakfast is included before we check out of our hotel. This morning you will have time to browse through the many quaint shops of North Conway. Then we will board the Crawford Notch Line for a train ride from North Conway to Bretton Woods through some of New Hampshire’s most spectacular scenery including sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading streams and wide mountain vistas. Our motor coach will be waiting for us in Bretton Woods to take us to Montpelier, VT where we will visit the Morse Sugar Farm. Here you will learn about the history of maple sugaring and experience a tasty Vermont treat called sugar-on-snow. Then it is just a short drive to the charming Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT where we will stay the night. This sprawling Austrian chalet is situated on 2700 acres overlooking the village of Stowe. Each of its 73 rooms offers a breathtaking vista of the Stowe Valley and the Worcester Mountain range. The von Trapp family’s love of the mountains and music is most apparent in this lovely hillside retreat. A wonderful dinner is served in the hotel’s dining room this evening followed by entertainment. Wednesday, October 8 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)Breakfast is included at the hotel before we check out.
